On Saturday night something came full circle as I sat at The New Victory Theater with my arm around my 9-year old daughter telling her about the moment, Complicite lit a fire in me that burns today. We saw their wonderful adaptation of Lionboy. It was a night to be remembered! A story for all ages and for quickening the imagination while compelling the audience to contextualize this play about the future into our everyday lives.
The piece de resistance (so to speak) is that afterwards my daughter and I had dinner with one of the cast members, Dan Milne, who is good friends with Helene Kvale (former Artistic Director of Bated Breath). He was phenomenal in the piece and offered some great acting tips to my 9-year old who unabashedly wanted tips from him on improving her British accent. A wonderful passing of the torch. If you ever get a chance to see Complicite, don't miss them!
