The piece stars two long-time Bated Breath
colleagues, Aaron Pitre (Board President & Freedom: In
Three Acts) and Vanessa Butler (Freedom: In Three Acts)
as James Baldwin and Lorraine Hansberry.
The docudrama piece engages the issues of race, art and
politics through words of these two leading artists of the
1950s and 1960s. The play brings this history to life in a
way that allows the audience to engage both the past and
