BITTERSWEET: THE PLAY

Just announced exclusively with Variety Magazine. Bated breath is adapting the New York Times #1 bestselling book Bittersweet: How Sorrow and Longing Make Us Whole into a play. Working in collaboration with the author Susan Cain, and with producer Ryan Ratelle, “Bittersweet: The Play” will follow one mother’s journey to attempt the impossible after the tragic loss of her child. With a promise from the Buddha that he can resurrect her daughter if she can procure a mustard seed from a house not touched by grief, she sets out on her journey to return to the perfect world of her past by visiting the doorsteps of the future. On the other side of time, she meets musician Leonard Cohen, writer Maya Angelou, scientist Charles Darwin and others who transformed their incapacitating grief into offerings that forever changed the course of history. CHASING ANDY WARHOL

Bated Breath’s second theatrical walking tour production. The production ignited the streets of Noho and the East Village with a unique blend of theater, dance, and puppetry as scenes inspired from Warhol’s enigmatic life unfolded on the streets, behind windows of area businesses, and inside secret locations along the route.  Despite Warhol’s celebrity and fame, he was also an obscure, mystifying persona who preferred to remain elusive. Chasing Andy Warhol peeks into the life of the iconic artist going beyond the hype and into the deepest feelings of a profoundly complex person - whose legacy continues to bombard our senses at every turn.
