Michael Pares, Board Treasurer
In 2004, Michael graduated from Long Island University with a degree in Public Accounting and started working for public accounting firms Raich Ende Malter from 2003-2006 and Citrin Cooperman from 2006-2007. At both mid-sized firms he had incredible exposure to servicing small to very large privately-held, family-owned businesses.
In 2007, Michael moved to Connecticut and transitioned his career to private industry at Moran Towing Corporation, a prominent family-owned maritime towing and transportation company in the US. At Moran, he quickly worked his way up to managing the tax department until 2012 when he decided to take time to raise his children full-time. After about 2 years as a full-time dad, Michael decided to transition back into public accounting, quickly earned a NY CPA license and re-entered the workforce at Fiorita Kornhaas in June 2014. At Fiorita Kornhaas, he ended his first year with the firm on partner-track but decided to pursue a learning opportunity with KPMG, one of the “big 4” international accounting firms in summer of 2015. After achieving a variety of professional goals at KPMG from 2015-2016, Michael returned to Fiorita Kornhaas to manage the tax practice and he is looking to become one of the newest partners at the firm.
