Sarah Griswold (Board Vice President) has servced as a non-profit consultant for non-profit organizations, small and mid-size history museums, historical societies and libraries with historical collections. She was a Peer Advisor for the Department of Economic and Community Development and the Greater Hartford Arts Council. Her past work has included museum curating historic house executive director, researcher and program manager, public speaker.
Sarah has led workshops in aspects of museum management, visioning and governance. Sarah is also a former member of the board of the Connecticut League of History Organizations. She recieved her B.A. in Studio Arts fromWesleyan University.
Melanie da Costa (Board Secretary) is a Connecticut native who recently moved to Hartford after having lived in New York City for seven years. She has ten years of experience working in various aspects of the Fine Arts industry. Before moving to Connecticut this Summer, Melanie was the Senior Gallery Administrator of a private gallery in the Upper East Side. In addition to her involvement with Bated Breath, she serves on the PR and Fundraising committees of the Junior League of Hartford, and the Social Events Committee of Hartford Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs (HYPE).
Richard Curtis is a literary agent, author and author advocate. He is president of Richard Curtis Associates, Inc., a leading New York literary agency representing popular authors in a variety of genres. In 1999, anticipating the digital book revolution, he founded E-Reads, the first independent e-book publisher, which was acquired by Open Road Media in 2014. His interest in emerging media and technology has enabled him to help authors anticipate trends in publishing and multimedia. He has, blogged, lectured extensively and conducted panels and seminars devoted to raising consciousness in the author and agent community about the future of communications. He was president of the Association of Authors' Representatives.
He is the author of numerous works of fiction and nonfiction including several books about the publishing business and works of humor and award-winning satire. A few years ago he contracted Chronic Adult-Onset Playwriting Passion and has since written several full-length and short plays, several of which have been performed in New York City.
