New York Center for Immersive Theatre

The New York Center for Immersive Theatre (NYCIT) opened in 2025 as a real and metaphorical space where the future of theatrical audience engagement can be envisioned, composed, pushed, revised, and shared with audiences.

NYCIT is home to Bated Breath’s classes and trainings, as well as ongoing events, experiments, and gatherings that explore and expand this burgeoning art form.

What if your voice were not something you controlled, but something you discovered through your whole body?

Award-winning Brazilian musician, actor, and theatermaker Pedro Sá Moraes brings Theatersong, his original approach to body–voice integration, to Bated Breath for one afternoon only.

Developed through more than two decades of artistic practice and research, Theatersong reimagines traditional vocal training through movement, imagination, Brazilian rhythms, songs, and play.

In this intimate, three-hour workshop, participants will explore exercises that awaken the body's natural intelligence, free vocal expression, and offer new possibilities for rehearsal, performance, and creative practice.

All experience levels welcome.

ABOUT PEDRO SÁ MORAES

Pedro Sá Moraes is an award-winning Brazilian musician, actor, theatermaker, and educator whose work has taken him around the world for nearly three decades.

Recognized by NPR as an artist to watch, Pedro has received the Brazilian PPM Award for Best Male Singer and has twice been nominated for the prestigious Prêmio Shell theater award.

He holds a PhD from UNICAMP, where his research focused on principles of training and body–voice integration.
