The New York Center for Immersive Theater (NYCIT) is a real and metaphorical space where the future of theatrical audience engagement can be envisioned, composed, pushed, tested, revised and shared with audiences.  

Within the walls of the Center we intend to herald the theatrical experimentation that will chart the landscape of this ever-expanding form of theater. We believe that immersive theater has the power to galvanize audiences, ensuring a robust future for American theatre.

IMMERSIVE THEATER SALON #2/DEVISING WORKSHOP

Join us on Thursday May 8th at 6:30 PM for the New York Center for Immersive Theater's second salon with Mara Lieberman.  Admission is free.  

How do we approach devising as an ensemble? How can we produce work of artistic excellence? What's is the role of the director? What are the challenges and delights?

Let's push the boundaries of what's possible this spring.  Join us for this conversation which includes the chance to get up on our feet and try some things.

SPACE GRANTS FOR REHEARSALS AND WORKSHOPS AT NYCIT

The New York Center for Immersive Theater invites other theater makers to apply for subsidized rehearsal and workshop space beginning immediately.

CALL FOR PARTICIPATORY PLAYS

Submit your participatory plays to Bated Breath Theatre Company. We are interested in reading new works/adaptations of performance pieces with participatory elements. You may submit text and/or video. We are particularly interested in plays that explore the audience/performer relationship in new ways. To submit your piece, e-mail batedbreathsubmissions@gmail.com

DIRECTOR/DESIGNER LAB

Inspired by the meet up events sponsored by SDC, NYCIT will invite directors and designers to explore new ways to collaborate. There will be a practical component.

POLITICAL THEATER ENSEMBLE

An audition-based theater-making group that devises and performs theater on the street inspired and informed by current events.

In addition to this programming, Bated Breath will continue its own in-house ensemble work devising new immersive work to be presented at venues internationally.

Lieberman is interested in hearing from other theater makers who might want to use the space to experiment with the form and devise new work.

Lieberman is also available for one-on-one and small group coaching.
